 Home Remedies for Hives

Unless you have hives that are triggered by cold (which is rare), take a cool bath or apply a cold compress. Cold shrinks the blood vessels and blocks further release of histamine. To further relieve itching, add colloidal oatmeal to the bathwater and soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

1.Prickly Heat
Getting too hot by spending too much time outside on a summer day or by exercising are two causes of heat-induced hives. Sometimes known as "prickly heat," these heat-related hives calm down as your body temperature returns to normal.

2.Use a cold compress
Since skin irritation is the main symptom of hives, you should treat the skin to help alleviate the hives. Take a clean, cotton towel and soak it in cool water. Squeeze out the extra water and place over the affected areas. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then re-soak the towel to keep the water cool, which will in turn keep your skin cool.
You can use a cool compress as long as you need to soothe away the hives.
Avoid using very cold water because, in some people, this can make the hives worse

3.Foods
Certain foods are more likely to cause a heaping helping of hives. Strawberries are a problem for many people because they promote the production of histamine in the body. Other well-known hive producers are nuts, chocolate, fish, tomatoes, eggs, fresh berries, and milk. If you're going to have an itchy reaction to food, it will probably happen within 30 minutes of eating it.

4.Avoid triggers
These can include foods, medications, pollen, pet dander, latex and insect stings.

5.You experience recurring bouts of hives lasting a month or more; you may have a chronic condition that needs professional treatment.
