Use of Turmeric for Skin

Turmeric, commonly known as Haldi in India, is a spice with multiple uses.It is widely used in India and China for curing many diseases, this yellow spice, which is part of the ginger family, is used to make Curry.  Though the main usage still remains as being the chief ingredient in Indian culinary tradition, this wonder product of nature surely has many more impressive qualities. Turmeric is used in innumerable ways as from generations it has a lot of benefits for skin and hair.

1.Turmeric mask for oily skin
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder to be combined with coconut oil to form a smooth paste.
Apply and keey for atleast 10 min and then wash thoroughly
Benefits: Coconut oil is well known to provide benefits to skin. It is an important constituent of several body creams and lotions too. Coconut oil is one of the best natural moisturizing agent.
It also protects skin from harmful microbes. Using coconut oil also helps in removal of acne and other scar spots on the skin.

2.Lighten Stretch Marks
Turmeric can help lighten stretch marks. Stretch marks often become a problem for ladies and a mixture of turmeric, besan, and raw milk/rose water/yogurt will help lighten the marks and even out the skin tone. The pack should be applied daily and kept until it dries completely.

3.Improves Skin’s Elasticity
Haldi helps to keep the skin looking young and fresh. As it contains many antioxidants, it is great for aging skin. It helps stimulate new cell growth and help keep the skin’s elasticity intact.

4.Facial Mask For Dry Skin
If you have dry skin, you can make a face mask by combining 1 egg white, 2 drops of olive oil, fresh lemon juice and rose water and a pinch of turmeric. This can be applied to all dry areas such as the face, neck, elbows and knees. Allow it to dry completely and then wash off with warm water.

5.Night cream
 Prepare a paste made from turmeric and milk or yogurt and apply it to your face. Allow the mask to dry and leave it on overnight. For a less messy nighttime regimen, you can add a pinch of turmeric to your favorite moisturizer or treatment product. (In both cases, be sure to use an old pillowcase and bed linen that you don’t mind staining.) Wash off the mask in the morning using a gentle cleanser.

6.Removes Dead Cells
Make a paste by mixing gram flour and turmeric with water and apply it on your body. Scrub gently while taking a bath. Doing this regularly can rid you of dead cells to give you a glowing and spotless skin. Applying a mixture of turmeric and milk on your face and lips can cleanse your face as well as act as a healing agent on your lips to treat dry and chapped lips.

7.Treatment of Acne
Turmeric is effective in the treatment of acne due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties which fight pimples and breakouts to provide a youthful glow to your skin. Turmeric face mask not only helps to clear acne scars and inflammation but also reduces oil secretion by sebaceous glands. You can prepare a face pack by mixing turmeric powder and sandalwood powder and adding lemon juice to the mixture. Apply it on your face for 10 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. For acne scars, apply a mixture of turmeric and plain water on the marks for 15 minutes.
