Home Remedies for Neck Pain

Neck pain results in a sharp or dull aching in the neck, shoulder and nearby muscles. This can even cause headaches, numbness, tingling, stiffness, tenderness, difficulty swallowing and swelling in the neck.

1.Use Luo Zhen to treat a stiff neck

Massage the point on the opposite side of the body from the neck pain. If the right side of your neck hurts, massage the point on your left hand. You will need to massage this point by pressing into it with the tip of your finger, and make sure to use enough pressure to feel slight tenderness at the point.
Maintain that pressure while making very small circles with your pressing finger.
At the same time as you are stimulating the acupressure point, exercise the neck by rotating your head side to side. You should slowly begin to notice a slight increase in your range of motion while experiencing a decrease in pain.

2.Heat or ice for Neck Pain

There is not strong evidence that either heat or ice will help. But it won't hurt to try them.
Use a heating pad on a low or medium setting for 15 to 20 minutes every 2 or 3 hours.
Take a warm shower in place of one session with the heating pad.
You can buy single-use heat wraps that last up to 8 hours.
Try an ice pack for 10 to 15 minutes every 2 to 3 hours.

3.Avoid driving in Neck Pain

if you find it difficult to turn your head – this may prevent you being able to view traffic

4.Epsom Salt Bath

An Epsom salt bath can help relieve muscle tension, reduce stress and give you instant pain relief. The magnesium sulfate in Epsom salt works as a natural muscle relaxant that helps reduce swelling and pain.
Add one to two cups of Epsom salt to a warm bath.
Soak your body, especially the neck area, in it for 15 to 20 minutes.
Do this daily until your neck pain is healed completely.

5.Neck exercises

if your neck is stiff or twisted, try some neck exercises – gently tense your neck muscles as you tilt your head up and down and from side to side, and as you carefully twist your neck from left to right; these exercises will help strengthen your neck muscles and improve your range of movement
