Healthy And Delicious Top 3 Oat Recipes
Ingredients
1 cup oats
½ cup semolina
1 cup yoghurt
½ cup water
1 tsp oil
¼ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
1 tsp green chillies, chopped
2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped
¾ tsp baking soda
salt, to taste
Procedure
Dry roast the oats on a low flame until they turn into a light golden colour.
Cool the roasted oats and then grind into a fine powder.
Dry roast the semolina until it turns golden brown, and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix the powdered oats, roasted semolina, salt and chopped coriander leaves.
Heat the oil in a pan, and add the chopped ginger, green chillies and mustard seeds.
Add this tempering to the oat-semolina mixture.
Now add the yoghurt and water and mix well until you get a thick batter.
Finally, add the baking soda and stir.
Pour the batter into greased idli moulds/trays immediately, and place inside a steamer.
Steam for 5-7 minutes, or until the tops of the idlis are dry to the touch.
Serve these oat idlis with coconut chutney and sambar, or accompaniments or your choice.
2.Oatmeal pancakes
Ingredients
½ cup instant oats
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tbsp oil or melted butter
1-2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
1 cup milk or buttermilk
½ cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp cinnamon or cardamom powder
¼ tsp salt
oil, for frying
Preparation
Soak the instant oats in the buttermilk for 10 to 20 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon or cardamom powder, and salt.
Add the beaten egg, oil or melted butter, honey or maple syrup brown sugar, and oat mixture to the dry ingredients, and mix well.
Heat a small pan and pour a few drops of oil.
Pour a large spoon of batter, and cook until bubbles start to appear on the surface of the pancake.
Flip and cook on the other side.
Serve hot.
Serving suggestions: Bananas and maple syrup, fresh grated coconut and jaggery, blueberries and honey.
3.Banana oat smoothie
Ingredients
¼ cup oats, soaked overnight
1 banana, sliced
5-8 almonds
3-4 dates
1 cup milk or yoghurt
1 tsp honey or maple syrup
½ tsp cinnamon or cardamom powder
Procedure
Blend the soaked oats, milk or yoghurt, sliced banana, honey or maple syrup, cinnamon or cardamom powder, almonds and dates together until smooth and creamy.
Pour into a glass, garnish with extra chopped almonds and dates if you like, and serve.
