Home Remedies for Back pain

Back pain often strikes when something's amiss with the delicate column of bones, muscles, ligaments and joints that holds you up. But many other conditions, like strains, arthritis, hairline spine fractures and even kidney infections, can cause your back to throb.

1.Cold therapy

Cold application has two primary benefits:
It reduces inflammation, which usually occurs with back pain.
It acts as a local anesthetic by slowing down nerve impulses, which keeps the nerves from spasming and causing pain.

2.Stretch

Don't sit slumped in your desk chair all day. Get up every 20 minutes or so and stretch the other way. "Because most of us spend a lot of time bending forward in our jobs, it's important to stand up and stretch backward throughout the day," Reicherter says. Don't forget to also stretch your legs. Some people find relief from their back pain by doing a regular stretching routine, like yoga.

3.Ginger

Ginger root, which is used to cure vomiting, can also be used in the treatment of back pain. The anti-inflammatory compounds in ginger can give you relief from a backache.
Apply some ginger paste on the affected area, followed by eucalyptus oil.
Cut thin slices of fresh ginger root and put them in a pan of boiling water. Simmer and boil it on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature and strain it. Add honey and then drink it. You can drink this ginger tea two or three times a day for a few days or until you see improvement.
You can also make an herbal tea with one-half teaspoon of black pepper corns, one-half teaspoon of cloves and one teaspoon of ginger powder.

4.Exercise your core

The muscles in your abs and back play a critical role in supporting the lower lumbar spine. These muscles don't get a good workout in most people's normal day. Consumer Reports reported that in retrospect, 58% of people with back pain wished they had done more back strengthening exercises.1
There are many simple exercises that can be performed in 20 to 30 minutes as part of a daily routine.

5.Poppy Seeds

Poppy seeds work wonders as remedy of backache.
Grind together 100 gm each of poppy seeds (khus khus) and rock candy (misri).
Consume two teaspoons of this mixture twice daily, followed by a glass of milk.

6.Watch your posture.

Slumping makes it harder for your back to support your weight. Be especially careful of your posture when lifting heavy objects. Never bend over from the waist. Instead, bend and straighten from the knees.

7.Garlic

Garlic is another ingredient that can help treat a backache. Simply eat two to three cloves of garlic every morning on empty stomach. You can also massage your back with garlic oil.
To make garlic oil, heat some coconut oil, mustard oil or sesame oil on low heat and then add 8 to 10 cloves of garlic to it. Fry the garlic until it is brown. Strain the oil and let it cool to room temperature.

Massage your back gently with the oil. Leave it on for some time and then take a bath in warm water.
